I've used 600 grit wet sand paper to remove the tarnished clear coat, autosol paste polish and an electric buffing wheel attached to a drill to shine it to chrome like, and zoop seal from zoopseal.com to seal the exterior and it hasnt tarnished in 3 months, and i live near the ocean.
I'd recomend it to anyone. It's a long painfull process, but cheaper than chroming aluminium
